Slippery Elm

The inner bark of the tree Slippery elm, Ulmus fulva, has been used for centuries by Native American for aiding in the healing of wounds, boils, burns, general skin inflammations, ulcers, coughs, sore throats, diarrhoea and other stomach issues. In recent years it has been used as a natural aid for those suffering from inflammatory conditions such as Crohn's, UC, and IBS.

As well as containing vitamins and minerals that aid the relief of inflammatory symptoms, Slippery elm has a fibre mucilage which, when mixed with water, soothe the mouth and throat. When digested, the fibre causes the stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract, increasing mucus secretion and by doing protect the gut against excess exposure to acidity and ulcers.

Here at GoodnessDirect you can find various different forms of slippery elm, from its capsule form as a food supplement, or finely powdered in its purest form, allowing it to be multipurpose or finally in a tea form allowing it to an easy medicinal drink when poorly.
