Customer reviews - Langdale Rose Water 150ml

Marzipan with Rose Water - Wed 23rd Oct 2013

This is really simple and tastes great. This rose water is powerful so use sparingly.

1 cup of ground almonds.

2 tablespoons of maple syrup. I sometimes use caster sugar instead if I want a less sticky end product.

No more than half a teaspoon of rose water.

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, you should end up with a firm, sticky dough. Pinch of a piece at a time and roll into balls, these can then be rolled in cinnamon, cocoa, chopped nuts, desiccated coconut or even dipped in melted chocolate. The kids love these sweets and a variety of coverings look really nice as a special treat.

It's a balancing act when it comes to rose water use as too much can ruin a recipe. It's beautiful though when used right as can uplift deserts with its fragrance and aftertaste. It's just like having rose flowers added in to foods.

Strong flavour. - Sun 15th Nov 2015

Now when it comes to rose water, it's always a case of whether the water will be sufficient for your recipe. I make authentic Indian sweets, pastries and biscuits and rose water features highly in them and so you can imagine how it important it is. Well this one didn't let me down. It was strong without having any soapy tones and I didn't have to discard any items because they were ruined. Truly authentic and rich in flavour.

lovely (and potent!) - Mon 5th Dec 2011

I never had anything with rosewater before I bought this. It is really delightful -- I agree with the label, where it warns you to use sparingly. It's potent stuff! This is a fun example of how to use rosewater in cakes:
This recipe will yield 12 tiny cakes.
1 c self-raising flour
3-4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp sunflower oil
1/2 c soymilk (or other non-dairy milk)
1/4 t rose water

Spoon onto a greased baking tray, leaving 2-3cm between each spoonful.
Bake in preheated oven at 175C for about 10 minutes, until tops are golden brown.
