Customer reviews - Vbites Soya Free Cheddar Style Cheezly 190g

Doesn - Wed 8th Jun 2016

I was disappointed with this after reading the good reviews. It has a funny grainy texture and is more like a funny tasting pate than cheese. My daughters ate it no problem which is why I've given it 2 stars but it's nothing like cheese at all and I wouldn't recommend it.

Not bad, but you still have to squint - Fri 18th Mar 2016

This is very mild, melts well on toast and if you squint you can kind of pretend it's something like cheese. But if you are a strong cheese lover, go for the violife prosociano.

- Thu 9th Apr 2015

This 'cheese' has a nice smooth texture that you can either slice or spread. Quite tasty as well.

Good for Vbites - Thu 22nd Jan 2015

I'm not the biggest fan of Redwoods cheeses but this one is one of the better ones if heated up/semi-melted. Cold it's a bit bland but heated it works well as a substitute cheese.

takes some getting use to - Wed 23rd Apr 2014

Mmm what can I say, after first trying I wasn't impressed the taste and texture wasn't what I was expecting, but I've just tried it again melted on lasagne and yep I can say I was impressed this time.

Great with mince meat - Thu 26th Dec 2013

If you're fine with meat but not dairy products then the taste of Cheezly mixed in with plenty of mince meat and herbs is extremely yummy. Can also squirt lots of mint sauce into the grub for a sharper tasting meal that's deliciously chewy.

This cheese was okay, it did melt, melted on the tongue in fact, but it lacked a cheesy flavour. It was an extremely mild cheese, great for those who don't like strong cheese flavours. Did like it being soya free and would probably buy it again.

Not bad - Tue 9th Jul 2013

This one retains a little of the signature Redwood sweet 'cheese' taste but it does taste like cheddar when warmed. When cold it's a bit of an acquired taste but nice as an addition to salad.

different tastes... - Fri 1st Mar 2013

My daughter has always been allergic to dairy, and now to soya. She has never had dairy cheese and loves this cooked and uncooked. My other children and I wouldn't eat it uncooked as it's nothing like dairy cheese, but it melts and tastes fine cooked, and it means we can have pizza night! My advice is don't expect it to be like cheese, try using it in cooking, and be open to everyone having different tastes - your kids might surprise you!

Yuk - Wed 19th Dec 2012

Does not taste like cheese, tasted like old fat. Waste of money not edible at all.

Awful - Thu 25th Oct 2012

I have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this, my son has a dairy allergy so I'm trying to find a cheese alternative. Unfortunately he wasn't impressed and spat it out immediately. I felt the texture was awful, very gritty/powdery and the flavour was disgusting, I couldn't even bring myself to swallow it! I definitely won't be buying this again.

Cheese!! - Fri 2nd Sep 2011

My son was recently advised that he should not eat dairy, soya or wheat products. As a cheese fan this was a serious blow. We tried the Redwood Soya Free Cheddar Cheezly and I cooked it and used it as I would with his usual foods. Whilst it does not properly 'melt'; nevertheless the taste is fab and he loves it!!!

This is fantastic!! Great for cheese sauce, grates well for sandwiches and actually tastes like cheese! A winner!

Redwood Soya Free Cheezly - Thu 11th Nov 2010

I bought this a little tentatively, hoping at least one of my Cows' Milk protein allergic children would eat it. Well, they're turning into little dairy-free mice!!! They can't get enough of it, it's in their lunchtime sandwiches, I use it in cooking (it melts very well on top of lasagne) and even my daughter who can eat dairy, likes it. Added bonus is that it's soya free too, considering the amount of soya products my family eat, it's nice to have something alternative without soya. Brilliant product.
