Reviews

This is a nice granola, especially as it's not too sweet (I think it has added rice syrup).

- Thu 8th Oct 2015

Loved this. Very tasty and liked the puffed rice.

Great Granola - Thu 16th Apr 2015

Hearty and sweet enough, I just add whatever dried fruit I tend to have but it's fine by itself.

- Sat 15th Nov 2014

This is very more-ish. I'd prefer less puffed rice in there, but great to find a wheat-free one.

Goodness? - Mon 11th Jun 2012

We totally agree with you about the health benefits or not of rice syrup, however when labelling foods as "no added sugar" it is really difficult to know where to draw the line. On the one hand so many foods, on digestion, convert to sugars and yet some people need to know if sucrose has been added to the food. Consequently we give the definition of "no added sucrose" as our "no added sugar" definition. This whole subject is debatable, but this was our conclusion as the most helpful definition for our customers who had sucrose intolerances.

Tips

Would have been a lower GI had they used sugar - Sat 9th Jun 2012

No added sugar, yet there is 29% rice syrup added which most likely has a higher GI than sugar. Misleading?

From Wikipedia:
The exact glycemic index for brown rice syrup appears to be unknown, as none of its manufactures have funded the simple blood sugar testing over a 3 hour time frame required to determine it. However, since all three of its components have GIs higher than table sugar, (sucrose) the mix of the three must also have a GI higher than table sugar. Diabetics should manage its consumption accordingly.
