I love these buckwheat flakes for a gluten-free alternative to porridge, topped with ground flax, sunflower and pumpkin seeds..

- Mon 7th Mar 2016

Though not liking porridge, there are still ways to enjoy these. They can be mixed with millet and rice flakes and oats, to form a base for muesli, or soaked overnight in dairy free milk and/or natural yoghurt or simply soaked for about twenty minutes, adding whatever you enjoy.

Brilliant! - Tue 27th Oct 2015

We got through these so fast, can't wait to order my next batch of goodies from Goodness Direct! We tried several of the buckwheat products and this was by far my favourite though the kids loved them all (apart from the toasted groats "kasha", which had a VERY strong taste that two of the kids I just didn't really get on with). These are lovely made into a porridge if you follow the instructions on the pack. We like them best made into a "muesli" with raisins, cinnamon, honey, tiny pinch of sea salt/pink salt and coconut milk. Great way to boost good gut bugs :-)

Nice porridge - Sat 25th Jul 2015

I found these buckwheat flakes a nice alternative to make porridge as I can't eat oats. I have it topped with fruit.

Fantastic - Fri 13th Feb 2015

Love them but I am slightly obsessed with buckwheat. This makes a delicious porridge with a good but not too strong flavour. Really quick and easy in the microwave but you get a better texture if cooked in a saucepan. Highly recommended.

Not easy for me - Thu 22nd Jan 2015

I don't find these an easy transition from traditional to alternative porridge - it just doesn't taste right to me and I prefer rice flakes for that however they're not bad, just got to get used to them.

Very tasty! - Sat 15th Nov 2014

These buckwheat flakes are very tasty and they're perfect for me as I have a wheat allergy. I enjoy them with soya milk and I sprinkle dried fruit, chopped nuts and sugar free chocolate flakes on top.

Makes a good flapjack with Flora, syrup and a little muscovado sugar

Big Oz is a really high quality brand but wish they did raw, unflaked/untoasted versions. That aside, these are brilliant in the morning with my nut milk and a little honey. You could replace the milk with plain yogurt for slightly sour and creamy (depends on the yogurt) change.

big oz buckwheat flakes - Thu 16th May 2013

Buckwheat can take some getting used to. The flakes are the easiest and most healthiest way I can eat buckwheat. I hope the flakes contain a good amount of nutrition. I add them to my cooked porridge with a good dollop of yoghurt and fruit (I am using a few frozen raspberries at the mo) and this helps set me up for the day. I would certainly miss the flakes now if I ran out.

Tastes raw - Sun 7th Apr 2013

Cooks just like porridge. But has a horrible raw taste like unripe bananas or raw sunflower seeds. Not something I enjoyed, but one has to try these things!
