Yeo Valley Organic Healthy Creme Fraiche has only half the fat content of traditional varieties, yet it maintains the same texture and mild, fresh taste. The useful thing about our Creme Fraiche is that you can add it to sweet and savoury food - it tastes great with both. And just like its more traditional cousin it doesn't matter if the dish is hot or cold, whether you add it on top or put it into your cooking.
However you use it you can be sure its organic and natural. Made with a blend of specially selected cultures, it's Creme Fraiche with no additives.

Easy Mushroom Soup - Sat 30th May 2015

Puree 400 g raw mushrooms and tip into a pan. Blend 750 ml cold water, 6 level tablespoons potato flour and some seasoning. Add to mushrooms and simmer over a medium heat for 15-20 mins. Pour into a soup tureen and add the creme fraiche. Stir well and serve.

So, so simple to make your own creme fraiche but it might not be cheaper. All you need is double cream (not single), live yogurt and room temperature. Take a 200g pot of double cream then fully mix in 1 teaspoon of live yogurt and place lid back on, then leave at room temp for 24-30 hours and that's it. You could store in fridge to mature the flavour more but certainly not necessary, and it'll keep up to and over 10 days.

This is a delicious product, I wouldn't buy anything else! I've made the mistake of trying own brand cremes fraiches and they have all kinds of strange additives and cannot compare with the fresh taste of this one.

Try using in a prawn cocktail. Pour some half fat creme fraiche into a bowl and stir in a little ground cumin, a pinch of cayenne pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice. Add peeled prawns and mix thoroughly. Serve on a bed of washed and shredded hearts of Romaine lettuce with a lemon wedge to squeeze over.

Pasta Salad - Tue 11th Sep 2012

Stay away from commerical pasta salads - refined carbs, and full fat mayo. Make your own with wholemeal pasta and half fat creme fraiche. Add some fresh veg (eg finely diced peppers) and lean shredded chicken or tinned tuna and you'll get a far healthier tummyful. Creme fraiche is so tasty you won't need much of it either. It is also delicious as a simple topping for fruit.
