Sausage Casserole - Sat 19th Oct 2013

This is such a great meal for those cold winter days.

Fry the sausages lightly in olive oil, when slightly browned all over, remove from the pan and set aside.

Place button mushrooms into the pan, adding more oil if necessary and fry them until nearly cooked, remove and set aside.

Add to the pan a diced carrot and any other diced veg you like and gently fry until stating to soften, add more oil if necessary. Remove from the pan and set aside.

At this point I use the same pan to fry a chopped onion and a clove of crushed garlic until they are starting to brown, adding tamari to give the gravy colour and saltiness. This can be thickened using a little cornflour or potato flour mixed into a paste and added when the gravy is cooked to satisfaction.

Add all the ingredients to a casserole dish, spices of your choice can be added at this stage along with extra seasoning if needed and put into a medium heated oven to cook. It is ready when the gravy has reduced slightly and the sausges have become swollen.

Serve with mashed potatoes, it is delicious and you will want it again and again. A really easy meal that the whole family will like.

This recipe can be altered in so many ways, we sometimes do it with butter beans instead of sausages, adding extra veg.

Taste - Thu 31st May 2018

In a toad in the hole recipe the meat eaters had no idea they were vegetarian! A success for this hostess with a mixed group of foodies to feed BUT ensure none have an allergy to fungi as discovered one acquaintance did which could have made a success story into a disaster

Hate the new recipe - Sat 13th May 2017

Used to love these but the new recipe is nothing like as nice!! Plus they've added soya to make them cheaper to produce which I'm intolerant to. Lost a life long customer :(

Delicious, shame about palm oil - Sat 12th Nov 2016

I love these sausages and even eat them when i was a meat eater because they are so nice. The texture is great and so is the flavour and my non veggie boyf agrees. Only issue is palm oil, I thought linda mccartney was supposed to care about the environment?! But still i will buy them as they are the best ive found.

if you like things crispy leave them in slightly longer and they crisp up great

- Wed 27th Apr 2016

They have suddenly changed the recipe and these are now made using the most horrible of oils - RAPESEED - this is a toxic oil, pushed as a health food, but really a GMO food, supposed to help the heart, but actually does the opposite, it's a poisonous oil, linked to numerous health complaints. When the Japanese fed it to rats, they all died! We are now boycotting Linda McCartney foods.

New packs of sausages - Thu 11th Feb 2016

The sausages in this red pack are wonderful, full of flavour. Please, please, please keep making these because the new range in the white packs are not nearly as flavourful.

Ok - Mon 30th Nov 2015

These are a great back up to have in the freezer as they can be cooked from frozen but I do find them a little salty.

- Wed 28th Oct 2015

I like Linda McCartney sausages. They were great with mash potatoe

Vegetarian sausages - Wed 6th May 2015

Just the thought of eating veggie sausages turned my stomach but having been told how delicious they were my wife decided to try them without telling me (I have been eating meat sausages for the last 60 odd years) I was amazed how tasty they were and am definitely converted to buying these in future. Many thanks to the people who produce these, an added benefit for me they are better for my digestion.

Linda McCartney Sausages - Sat 18th May 2013

Linda McCartney was a saviour when I was growing up a vegetarian in the early 90s... These are not bad, and with lashings of onion gravy and mash, they do the job quite well!

- Mon 28th Jan 2013

My brother has been enjoying putting slices of these in pasta salads. Very tasty!

Good but salty - Fri 9th Nov 2012

I do like these sausages and it's great that they don't contain soya but lately I have found them to be very salty. They are still the best vegetarian sausage on the market being very similar to an actual sausage so I would recommend. Just serve it with something that balances out the saltiness and enjoy!

not bad - Sun 15th May 2011

No it is not the same as a proper sausage, but when you have gone vegetarian and miss a good sasage, this gives you the general idea/taste whilst being kinder to your insides and animals!

- Sat 19th Oct 2013

When frying to use as a sandwich/roll filling, slice in half when brown all over and cook with the middle facing downwards in the pan, this really helps to cook them thoroughly and is easier to place on bread. it also gives them a nice crispiness.
