A massive pack of sea salt like this (and given it's from Israel) is a true bargain at this price! I bought it for a range of purposes, including bathing and cleansing crystals :). I may use it for cooking too but the flakes are coarse size so will only be able to season soup/casserole etc, without resorting to salt grinder.

As someone has already said this works brilliantly as a bath salt and may help with your aches and pains, or relieve most skin issues. Also goes well with foods too and is full of healthy minerals unlike processed versions.

Sea salt - Tue 2nd Apr 2013

I bought this to use in the bath, since it's much cheaper than buying salt specifically produced for bathing. I have no idea whether there is actually any difference, or whether that is just a marketing ploy, but this seems to do just as well at softening the water as any bath salt I've tried. Plus it's from Israel - home of the Dead Sea (where all the really expensive bath salts come from!): so, who knows, I might have hit on a real bargain! And, did I mention, it's SO CHEAP!!!

Breton Spinach - Mon 16th Jan 2012

Remove tough stems from around 1.5 kg fresh spinach and chop the leaves roughly. Cook in boiling water with a handful of coarse sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, a small sprig of fresh thyme and a sliced spring onion until tender. Drain well and remove the thyme sprig. Mix in 150 ml single cream with the juice of a lemon and season with salt and pepper (to taste). Add to drained spinach and serve with croutons freshly made with bread and butter.

Try brushing new potatoes with olive oil, sprinkling with rosemary leaves and a little crushed sea salt and baking at around 180 degrees C/gas 4 until tender (around 45 mins).
