Sarakan toothpaste contains high-quality natural ingredients and is suitable for children as well as adults. It contains extract of the shrub Salvadora persica, which is a natural antiseptic. The twigs of the Salvadora persica shrub have been rubbed on teeth and gums for hundreds of years in dental care. Kids in particular are often delighted to find out that this shrub is known as the 'toothpaste tree'. Most conventional toothpastes contain both fluoride and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) – Sarakan contains neither. Sarakan toothpaste doesn't contain fluoride, SLS, sweeteners, preservatives or colourings and is suitable for vegans. It is flavoured with natural oils of peppermint, clove and geranium, all of which have antiseptic properties. As well as tasting great, users comment on how clean the toothpaste leaves their mouths feeling. Glycerin (non-animal), calcium carbonate, aqua, magnesium carbonate, salvadora persica natural extract, mentha piperita, mentha arvensis oil, eugenia caryophyllus oil, pelargonium roseum oil, hydroxethylcellose, sodium phosphate, limonene, citronellol, geraniol.

You won't find this one in the supermarkets or advertised on TV. But unlike many of the big brand toothpastes you see advertised on TV that make all kinds of claims but fail to deliver, Sarakan does exactly what it says on the packet. This toothpaste is actually so good for cleaning it literally leaves your teeth squeaky clean after brushing, yes they squeak! I also found it very effective at removing stains and whitening teeth, freshing breath and also very beneficial for gums, (especially when used inconjunction with the alcohol-free Sarakan mouth rinse).

After searching on the net for a few days for alternative toothpastes I came across a website about the toothbrush tree, and one thing led to another and I came across Sarakan on the Goodness Direct website.
After using it for about a week now I must say how much better my teeth feel after brushing, and also during the day too.
It took me a few brushes to get over the initial smell/taste of Geranium (which I now love!) and the strange feeling of there not being much foam (no sls, yay!) but now I love the feeling when I've finished brushing, fresh and also glossy teeth.
My teeth almost feel like they have had a dentist type clean there that smooth!
The best bit is that this feeling lasts for many hours after brushing unlike the previous toothpastes I have used.
Without a doubt I'd recommend giving Sarakan a try to anyone!

Watch out for Allergic reactions! - Mon 14th Feb 2011
So the taste is bad..like really bad. But you'll get over it after a few uses. It does leave your teeth and mouth feeling really clean. I have had two really bad reactions to this. The first time I didn't think it was the toothpaste as I was going through a body cleanse and just thought it was a reaction to the cleanse. I stopped using it after my mouth irritation never went away. I tried it again about 2 months later and I had another reaction. Very painful! Makes your mouth feel swollen and tender. Almost like you have a burn inside the whole of your mouth and it takes about 2 weeks to go away. It's hard to eat or drink and anything with the hint of salt just burns. So although this product does work. Please use caution. You don't want to end up in the amount of pain I have experienced.
