Spirulina is the richest vegetable source of Beta Carotene (one of nature’s most powerful anti oxidants) and other important carotenoids (plant colourings). It has 25 times more beta carotene than carrots!
Spirulina has 58 times more Iron than Spinach, and 28 times more than beef liver.
Spirulina has 3 times more vitamin E than Wheat germ.
Spirulina has 3 times more GLA than Evening Primrose Oil.

Usage
Spirulina is a food and so can be taken in relatively large quantities when needed. Take at least 6 per day, but you can take up to 3x this amount, either in one go or with food throughout the day. Light sleepers may find the energising effect inhibits sleep so avoid late evenings.

New research published in the Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine shows that Spirulina may be the perfect nutrient for athletes and validates its positive effects on energy and endurance.
This double blind human clinical study compared treadmill endurance of subjects taking Spirulina versus placebo and found significant improvement in only four weeks of supplementation at 6 grams of Spirulina per day. The researchers concluded:
'We report for the first time that supplementation of Spirulina for 4 weeks increased exercise performance, possibly through an increase in fat oxidation rate and increased glutathione levels.'(Kalafati et al, 2009)
