Hawaiian Pacifica Spirulina is an easily digested wholefood containing an array of phyto-nutrients and enzymes. It is a rich source of the antioxidants beta-carotene, chlorophyll and hycocyanin. It is a good source of iron and vitamin B12. Hawaiian Pacifica Spirulina is a wholefood where the nutrients occur naturally and are accompanied by the natural organic co-factors necessary to utilisation and assimilation. Nothing is added and nothing is taken away.
Hawaiian Pacifica Spirulina was originally sources from the wild and has been continually cultivated and conditioned to the harsh Hawaiian sunlight since 1985. This strain of Arthrospiral platensis naturally produces elevated levels of carotenoids and phycobiliproteins as an adaptive mechanism.
To minimise damaging oxidation of the carotenes that occurs in standard dryers, Hawaiian Pacifica Spirulina uses Ocean Chill Drying™. Spirulina is the richest vegetable source of Beta Carotene (one of nature’s most powerful anti oxidants) and other important carotenoids (plant colourings). It has 25 times more beta carotene than carrots!
Spirulina has 58 times more Iron than Spinach, and 28 times more than beef liver.
Spirulina has 3 times more vitamin E than Wheat germ.

Usage

Spirulina is a food and so can be taken in relatively large quantities when needed. Take at least 6 per day, but you can take up to 3x this amount, either in one go or with food throughout the day. Light sleepers may find the energising effect inhibits sleep so avoid late evenings.

Spirulina has long been used for energy and endurance as well as many other health benefits such as immunity, eye health and cardiovascular health. New research published in the Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine shows that Spirulina may be the perfect nutrient for athletes and validates its positive effects on energy and endurance. This double blind human clinical study compared treadmill endurance of subjects taking Spirulina versus placebo and found significant improvement in only four weeks of supplementation at 6 grams of Spirulina per day. The researchers concluded: 'We report for the first time that supplementation of Spirulina for 4 weeks increased exercise performance, possibly through an increase in fat oxidation rate and increased glutathione levels.'(Kalafati et al, 2009)
