Good but weak - Tue 17th May 2011
OK. So I come back and repeat buy this product because it really is non-skin irritating and has no perfumes etc. It also has the least number of ingredients of any of the eco washing up liquids and all of them ultra safe - so I don't worry if a bit is left on my crockery and not thoroughly rinsed.

BUT - and it is an important but - I did a careful test using this washing up liquid head to head with a standard supermarket brand. And there was no contest! The supermarket brand needed only 1/3 the amount of liquid to wash the same number of pots and pans and was definitely better at washing off grease.

I get through this stuff at least twice as fast as my old non-bio brand. It is certainly much less concentrated. And not so good at cutting grease, especially. So I really wish they would be honest. The label claims hundreds of bowls of washing up per bottle. No way!

Yet, it is green and gentle and for chemically sensitive it is ideal. Just works out expensive.

This is the best washing up liquid I've ever used. It cleans brilliantly, but it doesn't smell of chemicals and it doesn't irritate the skin. Great product.

Does Not Clean 150 Bowls of Washing Up - Tue 15th Nov 2011
Like the previous reviewer, I buy this because it does not irritate my skin so much but it certainly is not that good at cleaning. I am so grateful for that review as I was thinking that it must be my fault!

I have used the grapefruit and pear version of Dishmate too and they irritate my skin VERY BADLY but I can report that they are also not long lasting. The label says up to 150 bowls of washing up. Well, all I can say is that they must be TINY bowls. It really is very misleading marketing.

Dishmate only cleans well if you use a fair amount to make a nice load of suds. Without a mass of suds you cannot shift grease or food deposits at all. I've tried with a tiny amount of liquid and once you put an item in the washing up bowl the suds completely dissipate and you have to start again as otherwise you cannot clean anything.

If a bottle lasted a month I would be happier. I've worked out that if I washed up 3 times a day for a month that equals 84 bowls of washing up. Still far short of the promised 150 bowls!

At nearly £4 for a bottle this is vastly overpriced. I have some non-latex hypoallergenic washing up gloves and I shall experiment with some other brands now as I cannot afford to keep purchasing such an expensive product when it is not very good at the job it is supposed to do.
