I've been looking for an alternative to 'normal' bread as, well, let's just say that stuff disagrees with my body BIG time and I'm eating a more raw vegan diet. However, giving up bread did not take away that craving for the feel of biting into a slice... what to do?
My friend decided to treat me and bought me a loaf of Sunnyvale Organic Sprouted Spelt Raisin Bread (try saying that in a hurry! lol) and I thought hmm... what a strange tiny little loaf it is - so solid, it feels like a brick in my hand.
Always up for trying new things, I couldn't wait to open it up. It smells ok, the raisins make it smell a bit sweet and the word 'earthy' springs to mind. It's dark brown in colour and about 3inches wide and 2 inches high - can't tell you how long as I've already scoffed some, sorry! (probably about 5inches tho).
I cut a couple of fairly thin slices and tasted some with nothing on and some with delicious raw chocolate spread on top. It didn't taste sweet but the raisins made it nice and moist - it was delicious and very satisfying. There is no way I could eat 'normal' size bread slices of this loaf and despite it being so small, it will last just as long.
Would I buy it again? Yes! And I'm going to try some of the other Sunnyvale products too.

Good flavour but a bit dry! Nice with tahini
