Organic coconut sugar is a low GI sugar sustainably harvested from the coconut palm flower for it's delicious nectar.It has a GI level of just 35. This low glycemic value means that it is beneficial to diabetics and people watching their weight. It is also low in fructose, even though it is taken from the sap of a coconut tree.
Contains essential vitamins & amino acids, it resembles brown sugar and has a rich, rounded, caramel sweetness a bit like butterscotch. Use as a substitute for white or brown sugar. Coconut Sugar is definitely the healthier choice nutritionally as it offers a rich supply of mineral salts, B vitamins and amino acids - this is part of the reason that it is gaining popularity among health gurus. In fact many cultures throughout history have valued it for its health benefits.

Usage

Coconut Sugar can be used in the same proportion as sugar in cooking and has a low melt temperature and a high burn temperature which makes it a useful ingredient. It doesn't turn food brown when cooking either, but does give a caramel, butterscotch type flavour.

I was really pleased to see raw coconut sugar on Goodness Direct, and this doesn't disappoint. Great taste with all the goodness. This sugar give my skin a glow, which I put down to all the nutrient!

Scrumptious in cereals for a bit of crunch and sweetness along with some hemp seeds, chia seeds, goji berries and some oats and you've got a highly nutritious morning breakfast.
