Product Details

Coconuts are actually a fruit, not a nut, with a unique combination of nutrients that have made them a staple part of the diet of millions of people living in the tropics. Coconuts are a rich source of medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs), fatty acids that are more easily digested than fats found in other oils. Around 50% of these MCFA’s are made up of lauric acid.

Consumption of ‘good fats’ is an important part of a balanced diet, contributing towards healthy cell function. Coconut milk contains 65% medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs). Unlike saturated animal fats, MCFAs are not readily stored in the body but are digested and used as energy by the body.

Tasty alternative to Milk and Soy - Thu 28th Oct 2010
Ive tried quite a few alternatives to milk and even made my own nut milks but I have to say so far this beats all the ones I've tried. It is so similar to milk, not too thick like soy or too watery like some nut and grain milks. Has a fresh light coconut flavour which tastes amazing with breakfast cereals! Low fat too.

Fantastic! Finally a great tasting non-dairy milk that works in coffee, but isn't as thin/sweet as I find rice milk tends to be. Makes a great coffee, creamy and smooth, just as it should be. Would not be without this product now I've tried it and cannot recommend it highly enough. Great for any use, but it really is a must-have for all non dairy drinking coffee lovers!

This milk is so versatile, great for cooking, pouring on cereal & tastes nice too, baking has just a hint of coconut. It's not overpowering.

    tasty - Tue 5th Jul 2011
This is a really nice coconut milk that's a good (and tastier) alternative to dairy milk for cooking, drinking, adding to coffee/tea, and cereal. It's different from coconut in the can because the fat doesn't solidify and rise to the top at room temperature. It tastes rich without tasting heavy or thick or too coconutty and it's very refreshing.

great in drinks and baked goods - Thu 3rd Nov 2011
We recently tried Kara Freshly Pressed Coconut Milk, and while we weren't very keen on it as a drink by itself, we have found that it makes an amazing latte, and goes great in other hot drinks. We've baked with it, too, with nice results.

Works really well as a dairy-free alternative in hot drinks, baking and added to smoothies too, all the additional health benefits that coconuts bring.

Lovely alternative to cow milk... great in cereals, tea and coffee, wack a banana in the blender with some coconut milk and other goodies from the kitchen for a great shake!!!

Very nice alternative milk - Wed 7th Nov 2012
This was a novelty for me since I'm used to traditional coconut milk rather than this diluted form - it's tasty and I think comparable to the texture and consistency of most rice milks. It has a subtle coconut taste but needs a little sweetening in my opinion. I think the same effect could be achieved by watering down a tin of coconut milk.

Exellent Alternative to dairy - Sat 12th Jan 2013
I was looking for a dairy free milk to use in my smoothies for my reboot diet, and I thought I would give this a try and was really surprised how much it was like normal dairy milk which I love, I was expecting it to taste like the thick coconut milk you get in the cans, or like water with a strong coconut taste, it's neither, only a slight trace of coconut flavour and more like a glass of semi skimmed milk, so you could easily just drink it or use it with cereal, I think it's really versatile as sometimes you don't want a strong coconut flavour, if you did you can add some from the cans to make it stronger. this is why I think it's great for smoothies and anything else! I really recommend this product!

Great for almost everything - Sat 6th Apr 2013
As non-dairy milks go, coconut milk is definitely the best tasting. It is lovely on cereals, in baking and in most recipes that call for milk. The only thing I wouldn't use it for is hot drinks like tea and coffee - it's just not quite thick enough. I recommend almond milk for hot drinks instead.

    Tips

    They don - Mon 15th Aug 2011
This product is delicious, and a much more convincing substitute for cow's milk than soy milk (it blends evenly in coffee, for instance). I wrote to the manufacturer to ask what "fruit extract concentrate" means, and it turns out it's concentrated grape juice. In other words, fructose - AKA sugar.

Yet another nearly perfect and healthy product ruined by the addition of sugar.

The manufacturer says the grape juice is added at just 2% - less sugar than in cow's milk or sweetened soy milk. For those of us trying to eliminate sugar from our diets, though, this choice makes the product a no-no, and their listing the ingredient in such an opaque way leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Here's hoping that in future they do like several of the soy milk producers and create an unsweetened version.
