Reviewer's Name: Dusty Rigsby - Fri 25th May 2007 My family and I have noticed a change in the consistency of Nuttolene this year, one which I feel loses texture and taste and has become more like a pale, rubbery baton round. Even more disappointing is that we are now finding large air pockets within the loaf and between the loaf and tin; two occasions in the past month (05/07). We have been enjoying Nuttolene for nearly two decades and it has always been consistently good, up to now. Therefore, whilst I am contacting the manufacturer to advise of this disaster, has anybody else had a similar experience? Reviewer's Name: Rob Hare - Fri 24th Aug 2007I agree that Nuttolene isn't as good as previously and have also experienced the 'air pocket' problems mentioned by Rob Hare. Hopefully, Granose is trying to rectify the problems and that is why it seems almost impossible to buy the stuff these days! Reviewer's Name: Mary Payne - Mon 27th Aug 2007We love Nuttolene and have being eating it for over 40 years but now our local health food shop says it is being discontinued. Last year we lost Sausalatas and now Nuttolene. Does anyone know what is happening at Granose? Reviewer's Name: Mary Myhan - Wed 5th Sep 2007The last tins I bought a few months ago had air pockets in the loaf so I stopped buying and wrote to the manufacturer. I didn't hear for ages but then I have just had a letter. The company has been taken over which is why it took them so long to get back to me. They advise that they were aware of the problem and have now rectified it. As far as I know they will still be making Nuttolene and not discontinuing it as I had also thought. Reviewer's Name: Ada Vels Recipes - Mon 11th Jun 2007I am totally disappointed with how the Nuttolene has changed I agree with all the all that the other commenter says its become rubbery and no longer a pleasure to eat. In fact its horrid! Please go back to the former way you made it so we can enjoy it yet again. Reviewer's Name: Marina Reviews - Sun 26th Aug 2007I have been eating Nuttolene since 1959 and find the quality has deteriorated. In fact to change the recipe was NUTS! I also have had "Air Pockets" and would like a rebate And I dont mean PEANUTS! Please bring back Saviand and Savoury Pudding. Yum Yum. Reviewer's Name: Frankie 5 - Mon 3rd Sep 2007 I wrote to complain about the changed texture of Nuttolene, and about the poor value now that up to a quarter of the tin is made up of air bubbles, but I have had no reply from the manufacturer. Reviewer's Name: Vernon Casey Disappointed - Mon 29th Oct 2007 I have been eating nuttolene since the early 50s and my children and grandson all agree that we do not like the new texture as much as the original - also to my horror I have found our local stockists do not keep it any more. I too have written to Granose and not had a reply. HELP! Reviewer's Name: kathy Falle Nuttolene - Fri 4th Jan 2008 I found 4 tins of the old style Nuttolene in a shop recently - such a superior taste. Unfortunately they have not been able to get any more of either sort. How I agree with Frankie 5 as well. Just the thought of Savoury pudding and Saviand takes me back a couple of decades. Also can anyone remember Nutbrawn, my family loved that. Years ago I wrote to Granose and they said Nutbrawn was still available but I didn't see it again and the company was taken over by Haldene Foods. Reviewer's Name: Diana Sausolene - Sat 9th Aug 2008 I remember in the 50's and 60's being addicted to Sausolene which was I believe later replaced by Nuttolene a much inferior product. Does anyone remember it? Saviande was also available but was much more "chunky" in texture. What a shame these products are no longer available - such is commerce - "Buy what we give you" not "what you prefer"! Reviewer's Name: Hugh |
