Misleading Ingredients list - Sun 13th Apr 2008
Please note that 'Sarrasin' is actually the French word for Buckwheat.

If, like me, you are allergic to Buckwheat, this flour will make you very ill.

Why Dove Farm chose to use the French word on this flour is beyond me - they use the word 'buckwheat' on their other flours. But thanks to this, I spent 2 days vomiting up everything I attempted to eat or drink.

This is one of the better ready mixes for gluten free, wheat free bread. I used one egg only (to avoid the typical eggy taste of many gf recipes) and only 4 of the 6 tbsp of oil. Result had good flavour, good crust, rather dense (could have been the missing egg - or more care needed to manage the rise). Well worth further experiementation as its much better than many white gf breads (including the Dove one which is like a yellow cake).

I have tried the white and brown flour and surprisingly the brown seems to work better with a lovely crust and texture.
I found that it was better to use the gluten free setting on the machine with a short 2 hour cycle - the recipe on the packet and suggested normal cycle had disastrous results, even the ducks wouldn't eat it. Just ordered several more packets of this flour, it is my favourite so far.
