Cooking Instructions

Mix Quick Yeast into the flour in your recipe before adding the liquid. Use 4 tsp of Quick Yeast to 1.5kg of strong bread flour.

Ingredients

Yeast, E491 (rehydrating agent).

Recipe

Quick Bread:
500g strong bread flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp Quick Yeast
275ml hand hot water
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Combined flour, salt, sugar and yeast. Mix in water, add oil and bring dough together. Turn out onto floured surface and knead vigorously. Cut, shape and place in oiled tins or baking sheet. Cover and leave to rise in warm place for 25 minutes. Bake at 220°C / 425°F / gas mark 8 for 35-45 minutes.

I've been looking for quick yeast that wasn't in packets for ages. I couldn't find it in any of our local shops, but here it is at a fine price! I use this in my bread machine, but I use it in regular breads, too. My bread machine recipes usually call for a tbsp (7g) of yeast, but I just use a quarter tablespoon or so and it rises just fine! This is such a big packet, it is sure to last me a long time.
