I've found in the past that raw tempeh can have an odd taste, but I was getting such strong urges for some I thought I'd give these a go!
There are four 'rashers' to a pack, 2 are wide enough to fit a large slice of sandwich bread.

They are absolutely lovely :) The flavour is subtle and great, enhances rather than overpowers the tempeh flavour (which is savoury and a little sour. Nicer than it sounds, honest!).
The texture is firm to the bite, and you can crisp it up in the pan. All in all I found this far more enjoyable than veggie/vegan bacon and it's far healthier!
This means you can have your veggie rasher in the knowledge you're doing yourself good too! I'd imagine that if you really crisp them up they'd be great over a stirfry or a nasi goreng (it originated in Indonesia in fact ;)

Tempeh is made using an natural process using a culture to ferment the soy beans. This leaves the soybeans more easily digestible, it retains the whole bean which increases the amount of protein, dietary fibre and vitamins available (straight off wikipedia lol ;)..
Also just to note I used less oil to cook them than was advised.
