Other Information

Shiso (perilla) herb is used in the preparation of umeboshi to impart its vivid red colour. The shiso leaves are then sun-dried and finely chopped to make this zesty spice.

Definitely an acquired taste, but once you have tamed it, you can sprinkle it on anything savoury.
Has a subtle seaweedy taste that goes very well with grains and pulses.
