In Japan, sea vegetables have long been a staple food, prized for their varied flavours, their versatility in use and their natural goodness. They are now recognised as a valuable part of a healthy wholefood diet throughout the world.
Clearspring Arame grows wild along Japan's rocky Pacific coast. The young wide-leaves plants are hand harvested in late summer, simmered all day in their own juices, then cut into thin strips and naturally sun-dried.
Arame's sweet, delicate flavour make it an excellent choice for introducing sea vegetables into your daily diet.

Serving Suggestion

To prepare, soak arame in cool water for 10-15 minutes (it will double in volume). Drain well and rinse briefly.
Good for stir fries and salads.

If you have never used sea vegetables before, this one is recommended. It is easy to prepare, has a soft texture & a mild, sweet taste. Its black colour looks attractive contrasted with orange carrot, green broccoli & white tofu. Not only that, it's packed with nutrients.

Very handy to just sprinkle a little into soup etc to add some green colour and texture (and iodine) :) (let it simmer for a while to soften up) A little goes a long way, great for a tight budget like mine :)
