Usage

When cooking, simply substitute one and a half cups of syrup for one cup of sugar, and reduce the amount of liquid in the recipe accordingly. You can also enjoy the syrup on bread, pancakes and desserts, and in dressings and dips.

This organic, toffee-like syrup has a mellow sweetness that will not overwhelm other flavours. Rich in natural maltose, it makes a nourishing alternative to white sugar and supplies a more prolonged source of energy than most concentrated sweeteners.

I swear this will taste like the best quality custard, but no eggs, no sugar, no dairy, no cornstarch...

Ok what's in it then? Heat up a pint of rice or oat milk gently. Dilute a teaspoon of kuzu starch or arrowroot powder (both sold through this website) in a bit of cold water, miw very well and add to the heating milk.
Stir constantly over a medium heat, and when ready to serve, stir in the barley malt. Barley malt is a potent sweetener, so about a teaspoon is enough, and its rich taste is what gives the gorgeous custard flavour to this preparation.

Much healthier than sugar because of its grain origins, barley malt syrup also has a richer, more interesting taste. Use sparingly!
