Deep Country Pies - Thu 4th Oct 2007 I have recently purchased the new packaged pies after searching for them everywhere! I do not think this is a improved recipe. There is much less soya and they seem so much more salty. I was very disappointed especially as vegetarian food is so hard to find as it is. Reviewer's Name: gee

- Mon 30th Jul 2007 Agggghhhhhh! Something else that's been 'improved' but not for the better! I don't eat much convenience food, but used to allow these into my freezer as an occassional treat because the filling was so rich and tasty, albeit the fact that you could never bake them evenly, despite following the instructions to the letter (has anybody ever cooked a Deep Country Pie that hasn't had a soggy, raw pastry bottom? No, didn't think so…). Now, not only does the 'improved' recipe still not cook properly (I'm not kidding – check out the picture on the box; even the food stylist couldn't manage to brown that base!), it now tastes foul – overpowering onion flavour and sweet, sickly soya. V. disappointing. Reviewer's Name: Ruth
- Fri 17th Aug 2007 The might be called DEEP country pies, but there is no filling in them. It is all gravy and about a teaspoon of soya mince, if that! The pastry was nice but the filling non existent.
I used to buy these some years ago when Linda McCartney was alive and they used to be good and full of soya mince. I dont know who owns it now but they need a shake up! Reviewer's Name: Hazel Busuttil
- Sun 2nd Sep 2007 We must say that we are both disappointed with the new recipe pies. They much less flavour that the original. Can we please have the original back. Reviewer's Name: Jim & Shirley Toogood
- Wed 5th Sep 2007 I am surprised to read so many comments from people who do not like these pies. I think they're fabulous. I have been searching for these pies for ages and found the newly packaged one recently. I honestly cannot complain one bit, I thought they tasted delicious and so did all the meat eating members of my family.
Well done to whoever developed this new pie, top marks. Reviewer's Name: Daryl Baker

Linda McCartney country pies - Mon 5th Nov 2007 What a disappointment. They used to sooooo good and now the improved pie is awful. Hardly any filling and quite a strange taste, I won't be buying these again and I used to get use these a lot. Another new improved item that has been ruined Reviewer's Name: Mrs B Davis
What have they done to my favourite pies?! - Tue 15th Jan 2008 What a shame, a pie that was once delicious is now odd in taste and very doughy, didn't cook in the time stated on the box for me... but I could cope with that... bring back the old ingredients. Reviewer's Name: the pie expert
ewwwww - Tue 29th Jan 2008 Finally managed to get hold of one of these pies. Thought I'd try it out but couldn't eat it all for the amount of garlic it had used.
I tried a cooked (but cooled) one the next day as i had forgotten about the garlic, and it's not as bad eaten cold...but still a little overpowering.

Linda McCartney deep country pies - Thu 17th Apr 2008 These are revolting!!! I couldn't eat mine. Who were the taste testers? Did they have their tastebuds removed? If I wanted to eat something tasting of par-boiled garlic I could do it much more inexpensively than this. What on earth possessed the manufacturers to release these abominations? It's enough to make you want to eat meat. Vote with your feet, people, boycott the pies till they taste like they used to. Can we petition Paul? Reviewer's Name: Turkey Slippers
Linda McCartney deep country pies - Thu 17th Apr 2008 The Linda McCartney range is now owned by Hain-Celestial. Please visit their website and complain about the dreadful pie situation.

Linda McCartney deep country pies - Thu 8th May 2008 Having never tried these before, and after having read the reviews here, I was expecting these to taste awful. However, although I agree they are mainly gravy, I think the quality overall and taste is excellent. The pastry bottom cooks through if you do as it says and place the pie on a preheated baking tray. The pasty is great. My husband who is a newly converted veggie ate it too - his first taste of soya mince and if he says it is good, it is good! Reviewer's Name: Shirley Bertram
