Biona Organic Rice Syrup - Sat 30th Aug 2008
If you are like me and you're unable to eat ordinary sugars, refine, honey, malasses etc, Biona Orgainc Rice Syrup is a fantastic alternative,I can now enjoy sweetened treats without any adverse effects. I use it to bake with and occasionally I add it to my cereals, on bread and rice cakes, basically it can be used to replace ordinary sugar. It is reasonably sweet unlike ''Agave mild'' which I found to be very sweet and it does not have a distinctive overpowering flavour that is dominating.

BIONA ORGANIC RICE SYRUP - Sun 2nd Nov 2008
A very delicate syrup without any unpleasant "aftertaste".
Good for cooking a chocolate cake using ground almond, cocoa powder, rice syrup and fine oatmeal for a sponge for someone with food allergies and intolerances.
Cooked at 160 degrees in a lined loaf tin for 20 minutes.
Delicious!

Subtly Sweet - Tue 12th Oct 2010
Rice syrup is a delicious sweetener, with a subtle and pleasant rice taste. It is perfect if you want to sweeten something up without overpowering the taste of your food, because it has a much lighter taste than barley malt, but a much richer taste than sugar, and is much, much better for you.
Biona Organic products are always very good value and never disappointing.

Candied peel - Mon 18th Oct 2010
Candied peel doesn't have to be made with sugar!
In fact, rice syrup gives it a very nice taste.
Lightly peel your oranges, or lemons or mandarins etc. in very thin, small bits. Try to avoid leaving too much 'white skin' on.
Place in a pan and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil. Throw the water away and start again twice.
Mix the rice syrup with a bit water (how much depends on how much peel you have and also on how sweet you want them!)
Let this warm up on the stove, until it is well diluted, and add the boiled peel. Simmer on a very low heat for 30 minutes, or till all water is gone.
Store in a jar in the fridge, and enjoy using in a sugar-free cake or pudding recipe!
