Poached Plums - Sun 21st Aug 2011
Halve and stone 8 fresh plums and poach in a syrup of 200 ml water, 40 g golden sugar and the zest of 1/2 lemon. Serve warm with a dollop of mascarpone and some lemon zest.

Just a little step up from refined sugar not as tasty as muscovado.

Try barbecuing cherries and other fruits such as sliced plums, raspberries and blueberries in a tin foil parcel drizzled with a little white wine and golden sugar for about 15 minutes until softened and warmed-through. Serve with cream or ice cream.
