Brown linseed, the seed of the common flax

Recommended Dosage

Take upto 6 grams of crushed seeds a day. Lindseeds break up easily in the gut and help to reduce irritation of the bowel.

Serving Suggestion

Linseeds have a mild nutty flavour. Sprinkle onto breakfast cereal or mix with yoghurt. Use in bread making. Add to salads.

Here's a mouth-watering recipes for Cherry Granola Bars

Ingredients:
200g Rolled Oats
25g Wheatgerm
25g Ground Linseed
2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
200g Stoneground Flour
75g Sultanas
200g Frozen Cherries (chopped)
300g Mixed Chopped Nuts
Pinch Salt
5 tblsp Maple Syrup
8 tblsp Olive Oil
2 tsp Vanilla Essence
2 Eggs

Method:
1. Mix all ingredients together.
2. Press into a greased tray.
3. Bake at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.
4. Cool for 10 minutes and cut into bars.
5. If you're feeling naughty drizzle with dark chocolate.
6. Allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Ingredients

Other Information

Linseeds are rich in mucilage, which acts as a gentle laxative. Helpful to relieve mild constipation, when taken with plenty of water.

Very good mixed into salads - where they give crunch and a nutty flavour. Contains oils that are excellent for health and a good source of those Omega oils. I also put them into home-made bread, both in the mix and they make a nice topping too.
