All our ground and flaked almonds are blanched (the brown skin is taken of the almonds before grinding them). This can be called grounds almonds or almond flour as it usually referred to in the U.S. Almond meal is made from ground almonds with the skins still on. Almond flour can be used in baking and confectionery, including some favourites like macaroons and pastry, Bakewell tart, and frangipan cake. Almond flour is also a versatile ingredient for those on a low carbohydrate diet. It adds moistness and a rich nutty taste to baking.
Just Almonds and nothing else.

Great for gluten free baking - Sat 8th May 2010
This is brilliant if you are on a gluten free diet or low carb diet! Ground almonds make lovely cakes and biscuits and contain barely any carbs. I use this along with xylitol and sometimes with plamil sugar free chocolate to make nutritious treats. 3kg is a large amount but it lasts for months in a sealed container in the fridge.

Peanut allergy sufferers beware!! - Wed 5th Jan 2011
My partner suffered an allergic reaction to peanuts after consuming this product. Nowhere on the website have I found any statement that this product may contain peanuts, but when I examined the packaging after he had eaten some biscuits cooked with this I found a disclaimer saying they may contain peanuts.
After emailing Goodness Direct about this I received the following reply "Very sorry to hear of this problem. None of the Goodness packed goods are guaranteed to be peanut free as they are not packed in a dedicated peanut free area, so we make no claims of this nature.
I very much feel this should have been stated in the package description on the Web site, but I'm giving the warning as best I can here as Goodness Direct haven't seen fit to do so.

Peanut allergy sufferers beware!! - Mon 10th Jan 2011
Tanya thanks for bringing this to our attention. Although all the packs are labelled with a warning for peanut allergy sufferers, we had omitted to mention it on the website. We have now added this caution to the other ground almond products. If you have any other suggestions about the site we would be really pleased to hear from you.

Ground Almonds - Wed 2nd Feb 2011
I purchase these almonds to use as a flour substitute. This changes the composition of baked goods from those mainly providing carbohydrates, to alternatives with a higher protein content. I first became aware of the possibility when I came across a blog written by a lady called Elana Amsterdam. She was suggesting gluten free recipes using almond flour as an alternative to other gluten free flours. Her blog was so successful that she has now published a book, and this book called The Gluten Free Almond flour Cookbook, has so many wonderful recipes which are also sugar free too! This larger quantity works out cheaper than purchasing smaller bags and it lasts a long time too!

FAB. This is the product of all for me. I follow a slow carb/ low carb diet and this is the substitute for all flours. I use it in cake, bread, biscuits and bars. Lots of recipes on the internet, free of charge!
