The almond is available throughout the year to make a healthy and tasty addition to both savory and sweet dishes. Although packaged almonds are available year round, they are the freshest in mid-summer, which is when they are at the height of their season.
>Almonds are a rich source of vitamin E, containing 24 mg per 100 g.[19] They are also rich in monounsaturated fat, one of the two "good" fats responsible for lowering LDL cholesterol.
Serving Suggestion
While the almond is often eaten on its own, raw or toasted, it is also a component of various dishes. Almonds are available in many forms, such as whole, sliced, slivered, and as almond butter, almond milk and almond oil. These variations can be used in both sweet and savory dishes.
Ingredients
Just organic almonds and nothing else.

Great as a snack, added roughly chopped to muesli
or even flaked and sprinkled over salad!
The skin is slightly bitter (though I like this);
under the skin the nut flesh is sweet.

I use nuts now as a snack now I'm on a slow/low carb diet. I choose almonds due to the research published concerning there benifitial effects on weight loss, cardiac health and the efects on memory and brain health when used as part of a healthy diet.

Almond Milk - Sat 18th Feb 2012
These Almonds are so much better than the ones I have been buying from the 'World Foods' section in my local supermarket. They have much more flavour and are around the same price too!
I've mostly been using them for Almond Milk - Soak 150g of Almonds overnight, rinse well and add to a power blender with 1L of water. Blend until you can't hear the nuts rattling around any more and carefully squeeze the mix through a tea towel. The pulp can then be dehydrated and milled into a fine flour for use in other raw recipes.

Great way to keep nuts and seeds really fresh and crunchy is to keep them in an airtight container in the fridge
